How to Cure Acne - Tips for Clearing Your Skin

I am a girl to whom acne has not been kind. The pimples, blackheads and pustules started when I was 12. I washed and I scrubbed my face till it was raw. I tried one cream and ointment after another. I made trip after trip to the dermatologist and endured a sort of mini torture session as he would inject and extract. And none of it worked. The acne was always there. Along with the embarrassment and shame of having a marked up face. As I got older I wanted to know once and for all how to cure acne. And what I discovered was surprising.

First of all, it isn't just about finding the right ointment for your skin. Acne is mostly caused by a hormonal imbalance. This hormone balance takes more than just a cream to correct. You need to change the way you are eating, what you put on your body, and how your treat your body.

I started to eat more fruits and vegetables. I said goodbye to fried foods. Well mostly anyway, I still enjoy them occasionally. Water has become my drink of choice. I keep a pitcher in the fridge to let me know that I have reached my goal of 64 ounces for the day. I also started to take a fish oil capsule in order to up my intake of omega-3 fatty acids. These things are all key in how to cure acne.

My research also showed me that a lack of sleep is very bad for your skin. I was not sleeping enough at night and my body wasn't getting a chance to repair all of the damaged skin cells. So I made a point of aiming for at least 8 hours of sleep at night. I also started exercising three days a week. Running is my choice, but you can take up walking, roller blading or cycling to get your heart rate up.
